Overview
Project Summary:
Newf Friends was established in 2007 when our members were introduced to the reality that existing surrender options frequently fail to maintain the basic health and wellness needs of surrendered dogs. As a result, subsequent adoptions often fail as new owners are unprepared for the special needs of their new giant-breed pet. We aim to develop a self-sustaining, breed-specific, Newfoundland dog rescue group that puts the needs of the animal first. This includes an extensive in-home assessment period performed by trained foster volunteers who restore the health and determine the special needs of each animal that comes into our care. Our "best-fit" philosophy ensures each pet finds a permanent home and does not re-enter the rescue system, avoiding tragic ends.
Deliverables:
- Rescue, health and behaviour assessment, and re-homing of ~10 dogs (numbers will vary based on specific health needs)
- Establish self-sustainablity by starting an annual "Newfstock" fundraiser
How will the $10K be used? |
|
| Budget Notes: Care covers food, transportation, and vet bills for Newfs in our care. Care costs do not include any payment to our volunteer foster families - they volunteer their love! | |
| $ 10,000 | Care for 10 Newfs until a forever home is found |
